Resumen

SALVI, Valeria L. Franco  y  JUSTINIANO, Lucía. MAKING PITS IN DAILY LIFE.LA CIÉNAGA VALLEY, ARGENTINA. Comechingonia [online]. 2022, vol.26, n.2, pp.61-70. ISSN 1851-0027.

Archaeological studies carried out in a residential unit of the Lomita del medio site, which can be dated to the first millennium AD, have allowed us to identify the presence of 11 pits. The main objective of this paper is to discuss the role that these pits had in the daily life of the inhabitants of La Cienega. Specifically, we are interested in determining the reasons why people included these features in the interior of their dwellings. Like hearths or pottery, these structures were part of everyday life and were intimately involved in the production and maintenance of categories and identities that were inherently unstable and variable.

Palabras clave : Pits early villages; northwest Argentina; households social practices.
