Resumen

BETTERA MARCAT, Gianina C.; PALADEA ROJO, Ailem  y  SELDES, Verónica. LA ¿VIOLENCIA? EN EL PASADO REFLEXIONES SOBRE SU ABORDAJE EN BIOARQUEOLOGÍA. Comechingonia [online]. 2023, vol.27, n.3, pp.7-7. ISSN 1851-0027.

In this paper we reflect on the ways of “making science” in bioarchaeology and on the interpretative processes legitimised in the discipline. We focus on violence studies, especially on the review of the cuts and classifications that structure the universe of data to be evaluated, as well as the ways in which bioarchaeological conflict indicators in the Andean region are quantified and used. Having assumed the limitations of the bioarchaeological record described by the adaptive models, which have conditioned the inferences made from traumatic injuries, we propose the possibility of considering other ontologies of knowledge as theoretical-methodological alternatives, adding new perspectives that enhance the disciplinary feld. For this, we consider the contributions of philosophical currents such as the Ontological Turn and the Decolonial Turn, moving away from the hegemonic perspective of legitimised science, in order to apprehend the experiences of those who went through these events. This kind of approach to the study subjects broadens the disciplinary field and articulates with the proposals of the renewed osteobiography, the bioarchaeology of care and situated biology, adding ethnographic and ethnohistorical sources in the study of violence.

Palabras clave : Bioarchaeology; violence ontological turn reflexivity.
