Resumen

MERCADO, Camila. TEATRO COMUNITARIO Y PROCESOS DE POLITIZACIÓN DE LA CULTURA. Avá [online]. 2020, n.36, pp.379-401. ISSN 1851-1694.

This article introduces some of the research areas linked to cultural policy, socially transformative art, and community theater in Buenos Aires. The study traces two theater groups in Buenos Aires to analyze how these actors built a process to define their practice by differentiating it from other theatrical and cultural proposals in the city. This article investigates the collective demand strategies that these groups developed so that the state would recognize their projects’ specificity. I examine the notions of “autonomy,” “independence,” and “self-management” that these groups developed during the process. These concepts contribute to analyzing the ongoing dynamics of cultural policies and exploring how state agents and independent cultural initiatives are linked.

Palabras clave : Community theater; The politicization of culture; Independence; Recognition.
