Resumen

This article presents the results of an investigation about factors of persistence and wear working in doctoral processes, that graduates and non-graduates of Sciences of Education and experimental sciences interpret as part of their processes. The design used was qualitative and included two moments: a) exploratory (administered questionnaire); b) in-depth inquiry (interviews). Both samples (122 and 34) were intentional and integrated by graduates and deserters of four Argentine doctorates, two in education and two in experimental sciences. Of the 122 subjects, 99 completed and 23 did not. Findings are offered in cases of abandonment or termination. The results of the abandonment are: identification of the types of abandonment (voluntary desertion or academic exclusion) and its elaboration by deserters; periods of doctoral persistence; Institutional responses to abandonment. Data on doctoral completion show similarities and differences across disciplinary fields.
