Given the recent promotion of renewable energies in Argentina, this paper presents and analyzes the development axes and challenges of the energy transition in San Juan. The province is committed to a transition based on the development of photovoltaic power station, distributed generation, experimentation in smart grids and the manufacture of solar panels. The study asks about the predominance of public or private property and the alliances and disputes that are woven around these initiatives, based on the hypothesis that the province has faced a renewal of the matrix from the search for self-sufficiency, but it has certain conditions to develop its capacities for techno-energy renewal based on the strength of its public firms and its link with the civil society.
