Resumen
LOPEZ, J. A.; HARRAND, L.; MARCO, M. A. y LOPEZ, A. J.. Genetic variation of Eucalyptus hybrid clones. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2016, vol.24, n.1, pp.5-6. ISSN 0328-0543.
Aiming at estimating the genetic parameters and the expected superiority/inferiority of some commercial materials of E. grandis used in the Argentinian Mesopotamia, the individual tree volume, bark proportion, physical properties and heartwood color variables of a group of E. grandis with E. camaldulensis, E. tereticornis and E. dunnii hybrid clones were evaluated. The information was analyzed using the mixed models methodology (univariate linear mixed model). Highly significant differences were detected in all the characteristics tested for the genotypic effects, broad-sense heritability ranged from moderate to high, and the selective accuracy obtained showed high precision for the average genotypic inferences. In comparing them against those of the improved E. grandis seed, most of the hybrid clones showed rapid growth, high bark ratio, high wood density, low growth stresses and acceptable dimensional stability despite the high values of radial and tangential shrinkability. As to heartwood color it was found one which is very like the control and remains undistinguishable to the ordinary observer.
