Abstract The remarkable advance of the forces of the right and even of the extreme right in much of the western world has generated, in the field of social sciences, an already vast literature and not a few controversies. One of the issues that usually causes differences is the existence or non-existence of democratic rights. This article continues the reflection, already considered in previous ones, which puts in doubt that, within this field, those that are predominate. At the same time, the shift to the extreme does not necessarily mean that they are Nazis or fascists
