Resumen

DI NAPOLI, Pablo. Violencia, racismo y escuela: El caso de los alumnos tipificados como violentos. Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2013, n.39, pp.43-50. ISSN 1995-7785.

Discrimination and stigmatization are present in multiples areas of social life. This article aims to explore some of the racist practices and discourses, in the school environment, in relation to the problem of school violence. Particularly, we inquired about the racist discourses which is present in the symbolic construction of the figure of "violent student" produced by students. Also we want to return to some issues about the debate on the concept of race and racist practice theory. Then we focus on the senses that carry the adjectives used by young people to describe or nominate students considered violent. In this point we observes that racist practices and discourses are connected to each other and are used by the students to create a picture of us like "non-violent and superior" and them like "violent and inferior". For this article we work with 16 in- depth interviews which are part of the fieldwork for my PhD. These interviews were taken to students from two state-run secondary schools in the Province of Buenos Aires.

Palabras clave : Racism; Violence; School; Youth.
