GONZALEZ, Pablo A y FERNANDEZ-VERGARA, Andrés E. Analysis of the technical efficiency of state-funded schools in Chile, incorporating their financial resources. Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2019, n.52, pp.79-96. ISSN 1995-7785.
Technical Efficiency in Chilean publicly funded schools (municipal and charter) during 2013 is studied in this paper, using as input the amount of resources given by the State. Using this variable is a novel approach in these studies because regular parametric methods show endogeneity problems when using so. DEA non-parametric method was used, which allows to calculate a virtual producer for every school and compare results between them. Results show significant differences among public and private administration in schools. There’s mixed evidence about free private charter schools being significantly more efficient than public schools.
