Resumen
MARICHAL, Carlos. La crisis global de 1873: consecuencias a corto y mediano plazo en Chile, Argentina y Perú. Bol. Inst. Hist. Argent. Am. Dr. Emilio Ravignani [online]. 2023, n.59, pp.65-99. ISSN 0524-9767. http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.34096/bol.rav.n59.12970.
The working hypothesis of this paper is that since mid-1873 there was a slowdown in global trade accompanied by drop a in the international prices of many raw materials and minerals as well as a sharp drop in the flows of international capital, but in fact the consequences of the collapse were not uniform in Latin America. In several cases, the crisis had delayed effects, especially in regard to domestic financial markets, where there was a severe banking panic in Argentina in 1876, a crisis in Chile in the stock market and banking sistema that reached a peak in 1878, shortly thereafter, the collapse of the banking system in Peru between 1878 and 1879.
