Resumen

HERNANDEZ, Facundo Martín. Study on the commodification of beaches of the Buenos Aires maritime coast. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2019, vol.25. ISSN 1853-4392.

In the coastal-maritime towns of Buenos Aires, a historical process of occupation and appropriation of the beach space through public and private investments for the development of "sun and beach" tourism is in valid and expanding. This process has been defined as "balnearización". The same, in the study area, has acquired a tendency to commercialize the beach, an aspect linked to the reduction of public spaces, to the privatization progress and to the expansive need of capital to diversify the offer of services and products. Based on this process, the objective of this paper is to provide a preliminary analysis of the current situation of spa-beach concessions at a regional scale, through the analysis of the data collected in the study. From the results obtained, it was possible to corroborate that the indicators of balnearización, towards the interior of the investigated regional unit, are presented in an unequal form and that some values express socioterritorial problematic. For practical purposes, a specific cartography was prepared to represent the results of the surveys.

Palabras clave : Sun and beach; Balnearización; Socioterritorial problematic; Maritime coast of Buenos Aires.
