Resumen

This article describes the dynamics Peru’s educational financing and spending during the period 1950- 2018. In terms of the object of study, the work goes beyond the conventional limits of the economics of education, an economic discipline that, among other topics, tries to describe, explain and predict matters related to the financing and spending of education. The research problems, on the other hand, are the following: what were the relevant aspects of central government spending management and gross domestic product that influenced educational policy ?; what characteristics distinguished the trajectories of public spending on education to gross domestic product, central government spending, and total public enrollment ?; and what was the behavior of total, public and private enrollment? Finally, the research questions are justified in the areas of macroeducation and macroeconomic decisions, and this involves an analysis of educational, economic and social information from the highest level of aggregation: the country and, in addition, related to the main international events.
