The article deals with the historical evolution of the financing of education in Brazil, from the perspective of the normative and legislative framework from the times of the colony to the present day. The main changes made in the regulatory framework of educational financing and teacher salaries are analyzed, in dialogue with the national plans for the development of education in Brazil. The complex persistent regulation and complexity of the Brazilian educational system still show the need to rethink a new regulatory framework that allows improving the resources of educational financing.
