This article analyzes, from a pedagogical perspective, a poetry workshop in a woman’s prison promoted by María Medrano. Through the participants’ testimonies, we examine the possibility to carry out an educational and artistic endeavors in a context which is defined by extreme hostility and structural degradation. Understanding how the coordinator of the organization Yo No Fui was committed to this challenge and successfully carried out the workshop in this context gives us clues to build transformative educational experiences for incarcerated women that guarantee the right to education from a place that prioritizes dignity and affection.
