SANCI, Romina; OSTERA, Héctor A.  e  PANARELLO, Héctor O.. Measurement CO2 fluxes from antropicsource: Municipal final disposition site, Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos. Rev. Asoc. Geol. Argent. [online]. 2009, vol.65, n.3, pp.533-544. ISSN 0004-4822.

Direct measurement of surface CO2 emissions(CO2 fluxes) represents an effective tool to estimate thecontribution of greenhouse gases to atmosphere from individual sources. In thiswork, the authors report the first results of surface CO2 fluxesfrom a waste municipal final disposition site in Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos. Itwas applied the accumulation chamber method which was calibrated in laboratorybefore the land measurements. Three surveys at different scale sample werecarried out (25, 50 y 100 m). Soil CO2 fluxes range from 5 to 331g/m2 day. Using statistical analysis three different populationswere distinguished (background soil gases and anomalous values) and the totalgas emissions from the site was calculated. The soil CO2, CH4,O2 and N2 concentrations, the time and depth emplacementof waste, the materials no compacted and meteorological conditions, suggestthat the site had passed all waste biodegradation phases. Actually, it could beat final stage. The d13C of soil CO2 (-34,2‰ y-17,6‰) as the dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) and the d13C ofDIC (-12‰ a -0,6‰) of groundwater samples show that actual process oscillatebetween aerobic and anaerobic oxidation phases.
