MANZANELLI, Macarena Del Pilar. Intergenerational ties in the community transformation of the diaguita people Los Chuschagasta (Choromoro valley, Argentina, 2009-2019. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2021, n.59, pp.157-182. ISSN 1668-8104.

This article analyzes the strategies for community strengthening and intergenerational identity promoted by the Diaguita people Los Chuschagasta (Choromoro valley, Tucumán) in the last six years in a context of aggravation of territorial conflicts and delegitimization of their identity. The triggering questions were, how are these intergenerational exchanges characterized? And what role do the new generations have in these collective tours? It starts from the idea that communalization processes constitute heterogeneous trajectories through which people feel part of and are recognized as peers, as community members. In this collective evolution, the role assumed by the new generations is approached in its procedural and relational nature, considering their positions within the framework of territorial conflicts, their judicialization and expectations of migration. Likewise, rather than adult-centered looks, emphasis is placed on the agency of girls and young people. The activities identified, based on the ethnographic work, were the “Boys and Girls Workshop”, the “Javier Chocobar Ceramic Community Workshop” and the promotion of cinema-debate cycles. It is concluded that the future of the community, marked by the defense of the territory, is supported by intergenerational ties where: adult community members participate with their wealth of knowledge, experiences of resistance and the intention of transmitting that cultural legacy; and the new generations play a key role in its resignification, based on their interventions and the new community-political roles assumed
