OTS, María José; GARCIA LLORCA, Jorge  e  CAHIZA, Pablo A. Recursos y estrategias de consumo en el Centro de Mendoza entre los siglos X-XVI AD. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.3, pp.375-387. ISSN 1850-373X.

Archaeological contexts of four sites located in different ecological areas of the Tunuyán river basin are analyzed in order to study strategies of consumption in the center of Mendoza province. These sites are Arroyo del Novillo Muerto in the Cordillera, Agua Amarga and Puesto La Isla in the foothills of Valle de Uco, and Carrizal Remanso 7 in the transitional area between foothills and plains. Methodology used here is aimed at identifying indicators of consumption in the broad sense (not restricted to food), mainly on the analysis of archaeobotanical and archaeofaunal remains, as well as the association with other materials and contexts. Regarding patterns of differential occupation of those ecological sectors, an integral exploitation of resources potentially available in each environment is recognized. Camelidae is the most exploited taxon and therefore represents the largest contribution to the diet. It is the most outstanding taxon in the foothills, in areas of greater population density and concentration, and it is associated to the consumption of agricultural products. Whereas, among other gathering resources, consumption of microvertebrates stands out on plain environments mainly.
