This article describes an educational research teaching experience, which is part of a doctoral thesis funded by CONICET. The objective is to develop Critical Thinking (CT) and teach Nature of Science and Technology (NOST) topics to secondary and university level students, based on the topic of Foodborne Diseases in context. To do this, we worked with colleagues in charge of the Food Preservation subject, which is part of the Food Engineering degree course at the National University of Quilmes (UNQ). A Didactic Unit (DU) was developed in order to promote various engineering skills, teach NOST topics and develop CT, based on collaborative work in bimodality (b-learning). The DU was deployed by means of a platform and a variety of built-in tools such as forums and wikis. Such deployment generated positive results with the use of different validated NOST and CT tools presented to the students as Pre and Post Tests. Likewise, in an interview with some of the participants, all of them positively assessed the intervention and the use of bimodality for its development.
