Based on various archaeometric analyses we are making progress towards understanding the use of pottery containers manufactured by the hunter- gatherers and fishermen population of the lower basin of Río Salado during the late Holocene period. For over 15 years we have been researching the fatty residues on pottery containers using the chemical technique of gas chromatography, the analysis of diet using stable isotopes in skeletal human remains as well as studying the isotopic ecology based on the archaeological resources of the micro-region. Now we integrate these analyses and added the first results after studying the food processing based on the stable isotopes (δ¹³C and δ¹⁵N) made in ceramic fragments. The samples have been processed at the Instituto Nacional de Geología Isotópica (INGEIS-CONICET-UBA).  The results coming from the stable isotopes showed that the containers could have been used to prepare an assortment of recipes with a variety of ingredients from continental aquatic resources, such as small and/or medium size herbivores, fish and vegetables. Up until now, the use of these independent lines of analyses have strengthen the conclusions that have been made regarding the prepared and consumed resources in the micro-region.
