SZAPIRO, Liliana  e  REYES, María Victoria. About the clinic of psichosomatic illness from the view of the lacanian psychoanalisis. Anu. investig. [online]. 2006, vol.13, pp.103-108. ISSN 1851-1686.

This work refers to the preliminary results of the research that we've been conducting on the treatment of psychosomatic illnesses, both on skin and respiratory diseases. All this under the Lacan oriented psychoanalysis. The core of our hypothesis lies on the findings that the people that suffer from psychosomatic illnesses show a severe fault on the paternal function in their subjective structure. The possibility of "taking the place of" or "mending" such fault opens a new approach to the clinical treatment of patients. In the framework of this research, we've noticed that during the psychoanalytic treatment of patients that suffer from psychosomatic illnesses the symptoms either disappeared or at least became less severe. According to our clinical experience, we've been able to check that, at a certain stage of the cure which was related to the remission of the psychosomatic phenomena, there was the manifestation of an opening of the unconscious, a dialectization of the discourse and changes in the regulation of the enjoyment of the subject in transference.
