The article centers on a qualitative research on the challenges and changes taking place in the psychoanalytic listening of toxicomania. Six psychoanalysts having renowned expertise in this clinical area were interviewed. The data obtained were analyzed applying the method of interpretative analysis which allowed to make three proposals: the challenge of basing analyst transference on psychoanalysis when confronting therapy failure, the construction of analysis demand and the listening of the counter transference and the potential of harm reduction through the listening of another scene. Reflections, challenges and changes referred to by interviewed psychoanalysts confirm the relevant contribution of psychoanalysis to the field of toxicomania. It´s important that psychoanalysts accept the difficulties of clinical work and ensure encouraging processes of change in the exercise of listening.
