RIO, Marcelo et al. Minimally invasive anterior plate osteosynthesis in humeral shaft fractures. Rev. Asoc. Argent. Ortop. Traumatol. [online]. 2012, vol.77, n.1, pp.52-56. ISSN 1852-7434.

Background: The ideal treatment for humeral shaft fractures is controversial, although open reduction and internal fixation with plates is the most reliable option. The purpose of this study is to describe the technique, report on the complications and union rate of minimally invasive humeral shaft fractures' osteosynthesis. Methods: Between January 2008 and December 2009 ten patients were treated with indirect reduction and internal fixation using a minimally invasive technique. Results: All patients were followed for one year. All fractures healed at four months. During the procedure no neurovascular injuries occurred. Conclusions: percutaneous osteosynthesis using the anterior aspect of the humerus is safe and effective, and a reliable option to treat humeral shaft fractures.
