LARA ESCALONA, María Daniela. Evolución de la legislación migratoria en Chile claves para una lectura  (1824-2013). Rev. hist. derecho [online]. 2014, n.47, pp.59-104. ISSN 1853-1784.

We can observe three phases in the history of immigration law in Chile. These phases can be demonstrated by the meaning of the law in each period. In the beginning of the Republic, the legislation was directed towards the colonization of land through selected migrants. A second phase begins with the military dictatorship, where the main objective was the expulsion and prohibition of entry of foreigners and nationals considered dangerous. A third phase begins with the return of democracy, where there is openness to migration with a focus in the economy but   with asynchronies. These phases are found in the legislation of each period and are explained in detail in this paper, which can be a valuable input for future research about migration in latinamerican countries.
