This article aims to analyze the discursive strategies presented in Alterosa Magazine, in order to understand the construction of the ideal of the Brazilian man, between 1939 and 1945, during the term of the Estado Novo in Brazil. The conjuncture of construction of male representations presented the redefinition of the bodypattern and the refinement of social behaviors, through the valorization of healthy habits and moral principles based on the interrelation between the world of work and the marital order. The theoretical contribution made to the construction of the text and to the reflections in supported by gender studies, in Joan Scott (1995), Elisabeth Badinter (1993), Sócrates Nolasco (1993), Robert Connel e James Messerschmidt (2013) and George Mosse (2000), adding the contextual specificity of the policies of the Estado Novo by Getúlio Vargas, in Ángela Gomes (1999) and Maria Izilda Matos (2011). In order to understand the circumstances of the body education process that occurred at the time, a dialogue with the notion of education in Marcus Aurelio Taborda de Oliveira was sought. Through the analysis, it was concluded that the speechespublished about the ideal man in the illustrated magazine were in line with the varguista project of the nation, indicating traces of conformation of a sensitivity, considered modern, through the education of the senses.
