Abstract
PAGANI, María Alejandra. Carboniferous and permian bivalves from Patagonia (Chubut, Argentina ). Part III: Families Mytilidae, Pterineidae, Limidae, Leptochondriidae, Etheripectinidae, Euchondriidae and Streblochondriidae. Ameghiniana [online]. 2005, vol.42, n.3, pp.579-596. ISSN 1851-8044.
This third part of the systematic analysis on the bivalve fauna of the Upper Paleozoic of the Tepuel-Genoa Basin (province of Chubut, Argentina) comprises families Mytilidae, Pterineidae, Limidae, Leptochondriidae, Etheripectinidae, Euchondriidae and Streblochondriidae. Abundant and well preserved specimens allowed the description of nine species, including the recognition of one new species, Heteropecten argentinaensis nov. sp., and new records of Promytilus ? sp., Leptochondria sp. and Euchondria ? sp. On the basis of new material from the Tepuel-Genoa basin, the diagnoses of Leptodesma ( Leiopteria ) variabilis González, Palaeolima antinaoensis González, Euchondria sabattinii González, and Streblochondria sueroi González are emended. The descriptions of these species are supplemented by new information and their geographical ranges are expanded.
