BUATOIS, Luis A.  and  ENCINAS, Alfonso. The Glossifungites ichnofacies at the boundary between the Navidad (Rapel Member) and La Cueva formations, Pliocene of the Coastal Cordillera, Chile: Its sequence stratigraphic significance . Ameghiniana [online]. 2006, vol.43, n.1, pp.3-9. ISSN 1851-8044.

The Glossifungites ichnofacies is recognized at the boundary between the Navidad (Rapel Member) and La Cueva formations, Pliocene of the Coastal Cordillera, Chile. The Glossifungites suite is characterized by a high density of ? Gastrochaenolites isp. The surface is mantled by a transgressive lag. Burrows are passively infilled with sand and gravel coming from the overlying bed. The surface represents a sequence boundary (a co-planar surface of lowstand erosion and transgressive ravinement).

Keywords : Ichnology; Trace fossils; Glossifungites ichnofacies; Sequence stratigraphy; Chile.
