Abstract

PINILLA, Karina; SABATTINI, Nora  and  HLEBSZEVITSCH, Julio. New Lower Permian gastropods from the Mojón de Hierro Formation, Chubut Province, Argentina. Ameghiniana [online]. 2007, vol.44, n.2, pp.399-405. ISSN 1851-8044.

New gastropods from the Lower Permian (Euphemites chubutensis-Palaeoneilo aff. concentrica Zone) of the Tepuel-Genoa Basin are described. The material was recovered from the Mojón de Hierro Formation, at the Quebrada Honda and El Molle localities. The genus Borestus Thomas (Pleuroto-marioidea) is reported for the first time in Argentina with the new species Borestus lunatus. In addition, Sinuitina (Spirilira) tenuis nov. subgen. nov. sp. ( Bellerophontoidea) is proposed. The new subgenus is characterized by spiral ornamentation, subcordate whorls in section, and a reduced collabral ornamentation on outer flanks and dorsum.
