Abstract
ANZOTEGUI, Luisa M.; HORN, Yanina and HERBST, Rafael. Paleoflora (Fabaceae and Anacardiaceae) from the Andalhuala Formation (Lower Pliocene), Catamarca Province, Argentina. Ameghiniana [online]. 2007, vol.44, n.3, pp.525-535. ISSN 1851-8044.
A leaf impression flora from the Pie del Médano locality, (on national route 40, km 914-915) in Catamarca Province, is described. It comes from the Andalhuala Formation, which at that locality was dated as 5.22 ± 0.9 MY, indicating a Lower Pliocene age. The flora is composed of Fabaceae (Prosopis sp. a, Eriosema pliocenica Anzótegui and Horn sp. nov. and Macroptilium sp.) and Anacardiaceae (Lithrea sp. and Schinus aff. terebinthifolia Raddi). The association indicates a warm climate, xerophyte vegetation and riparian vegetation along river banks.
