Abstract

TRONCOSO, Alejandro  and  HERBSTH, Rafael. Four Upper Triassic florules from central southern Chile (Cerro Ranguilí, Cerro Quilvo, Cerro Gupo and Río Quillén). Ameghiniana [online]. 2007, vol.44, n.4, pp.661-672. ISSN 1851-8044.

Four floristic assemblages mentioned in previous literature from four localities of central southern Chile are described. Localities are: Cerro Ranguilí (Estero La Higuera Formation), Cerro Quilvo (La Patagua Formation or "Estratos de Pocillas"), Cerro Gupo (without stratigraphic denomination) and Río Quillén (probably Huimpil-Llafquentué Formation). The plant list includes: Neocalamites sp., Cladophlebis sp., Dictyophyllum (T.) rothi Frenguelli, Dictyophyllum (Thaumatopteris) sp., Dicroidium odontopteroides (Morris) Gothan, Dicroidium lancifolium (Morris) Gothan, Dicroidium superbum (Shirley) Retallack, Zuberia zuberi (Szajnocha) Frenguelli, Xylopteris sp., Pterophyllum sp. a., Pterophyllum sp. b, Pterophyllum sp. c, Anomozamites sp., Sphenobaiera schenckii (Feistmantel) Florin, Taeniopteris sp. a., Taeniopteris sp. b, Linguifolium cf. lillieanum (Arber) Retallack, ? Linguifolium sp. and Heidiphyllum elongatum (Morris) Retallack. At Cerro Ranguilí and Cerro Gupo there is a certain chronologic control with marine invertebrates, but in any case the florules indicate an undoubtedly Upper Triassic age.

Keywords : Megafloras; Impressions; Upper Triassic; Central Chile.
