Study of Lower Paleozoic outcrops from the Sierra del Campo, Tucumán province, provides information on the southern margin of the Early Paleozoic basin of northwest Argentina. Facies analysis indicates that these deposits record sedimentation in a subtidal sandbar complex of a tide-dominated shallow sea. Comparison with other outcrops in the basin suggests a regional correlation with the Mesón Group.
