Abstract

LECH, R.R.  and  RAVERTA, V.. The genus Histosyrinx Massa, Termier y Termier, 1974 (Septosyringothyridinae, Brachiopoda) from the Late Carboniferous of Argentina. Rev. Asoc. Geol. Argent. [online]. 2005, vol.60, n.2, pp.377-382. ISSN 0004-4822.

The genus Histosyrinx from the Late Carboniferous of West-Central Argentina is described for the first time in South America. Species that should be attributed to this genus were assigned to Septosyringothyris jaguelensis Lech and S. jaguensis Lech and Aceñolaza. S. jaguelensis was described from the Agua del Jagüel Formation, Uspallata, Mendoza, and Río del Peñón Formation, of Jagüé, La Rioja. S. jaguensis was also described from the Río del Peñón Formation and from the Del Salto Formation, Calingasta, San Juan. Histosyrinx was originally described for the Lower Carboniferous basins of Rhadamès and Mourzouk, Libia, as well Kuznetsk and Verkhoyansk Khrebet, Russia.
