Abstract

ZAPPETTINI, Eduardo O.  and  MENDIA, José. The first geological mapof Patagonia. Rev. Asoc. Geol. Argent. [online]. 2009, vol.64, n.1, pp.55-59. ISSN 0004-4822.

This contribution analyses the first geological mapof Patagonia drawn by Darwin around 1840, and colour-painted by Darwin himself. It had remained unpublished and only a small version in black and white hadbeen printed before. The different units mapped by Darwin are analysed from amodern perspective, and his ability to show a synthesis of the complexgeological structure of Patagonia is stressed.
