GONZALEZDIAZ, Emilio F.. Landslides north of Tricao Malal village(Northern Neuquén). Rev. Asoc. Geol. Argent. [online]. 2009, vol.65, n.3, pp.545-550. ISSN 0004-4822.

Large landslides of differenttypes not previously recorded are located in the left bank of the Río CurriLeuvú valley, north of the Tricao Malal villageThere are situated among theCerro Palao and the Palao pond and Riscos Negros site to the north. The largestlandslides (Malal Cura and Arroyo Mogolillo landslides) correspond to themultiple rotational progressive type. They are developed on Mesozoicsedimentary rocks, covered by Cenozoic basalt flows. The debris and earth flowsare developed in areas covered by the volcanic rocks of the CharilehueFormation (Middle Miocene) and continue north of study reaching the latitudesof the Grande and Medio streams and also the Colimamil stream valley southeastof Cerro Domuyo. The impact of these phenomena in the fluvial system wasimportant and produced ephemeral and permanent blocking as seen in the LaTurbia stream with coeval ponding. It is hypothesized that the landslideoccurrence is related to excess or long-lasting periods of rain in postglacialtimes. It is also indicated the presence of rock glaciers in the CerroPalao.
