Abstract
MOREIRA, Pilar; FERNANDEZ, Raúl; ETCHEVERRY, Ricardo and SCHALAMUK, Isidoro A.. La Josefina and Maria Esther Jurassic dome complexes, central sector of the Deseado Massif, Patagonia. Rev. Asoc. Geol. Argent. [online]. 2010, vol.66, n.3, pp.335-338. ISSN 0004-4822.
This article describes La Josefina and Maria Esther Jurassic dome complexes found in the central sector of the Deseado Massif geological province. These domes are composed of effusive facies (dacitic and rhyolitic domes and lava flows), subvolcanic facies (andesitic-basalt, andesitic and dacitic dikes and sills), volcaniclastic facies (block and ash deposits) and minor epiclastic facies. They are subalkalic rocks with calc-alkaline affinities. They are genetically related, supporting the bimodality of the Jurassic magmatism for the Deseado Massif. These dome complexes are classified as late post-caldera domes. The distribution of the dome complexes adjust to NW lineament, evidencing a main emission center of the wide volcaniclastic materials from the area.
