Resumen
PERALTA, Silvio H. Devónico de la Sierra de la invernada, precordillera de San Juan, Argentina: revisión estratigráfica e implicancias paleogeográficas. Rev. Asoc. Geol. Argent. [online]. 2013, vol.70, n.2, pp.202-215. ISSN 0004-4822.
A siliciclastic Devonian succession composed by the Punta Negra (Emsian-Eifelian?) and the Los Sombreros (Emsian-Eifelian?) formations, is described on the eastern flank of the Sierra de La Invernada and Pachaco area. The Talacasto Formation is not exposed on this area, but its deposits occurs reworked into the sedimentary mélange (olistostroma) of the Los Sombreros Formation (ex "Corralito Formation"). The Punta Negra Formation paraconformably overlies the Los Espejos Formation (Gualilán area), but also to the Los Bretes Formation (Pachaco area); to the top this unit is, in turn, erosively overlies by the Los Sombreros Formation, Devonian post-Punta Negra Formación in age, on the basis of its stratigraphic relationship, and lithological and paleobiological features, which is related to an extensional event. The lack of the Talacasto Formation is interpreted as result of the northwards tilting of the Devonian basin, due to the up-lift of the Tambolar arch.
