Abstract

GIRALDO-CANAS, Diego. The species of Schwartzia (Norantea Complex, Marcgraviaceae) in Brazil. Darwiniana [online]. 2004, vol.42, n.1-4, pp.169-175. ISSN 0011-6793.

Schwartzia is a small genus of 17 species distributed in wet lowland forests or montane cloud forests from Costa Rica to southern Brazil, and also in the Lesser Antilles; it belongs to the Marcgraviaceae, a Neotropical family. Three species are considered in this paper for Brazil and one of these is described as a new species. The three taxa are endemic to Brazil. Each taxon is described; a key to identification of the species as well as information on distribution and ecology are also provided.
