Resumen
BABOT, María del Pilar; OLISZEWSKI, Nurit y GRAU, Alfredo. Analysis of macroscopic and microscopic characters of wild and cultivated varieties of Phaseolus vulgaris (Fabaceae, Faboideae) from northwestern Argentina: An archaeobotanical application. Darwiniana [online]. 2007, vol.45, n.2, pp. 149-162. ISSN 1850-1702.
Current criteria used for the characterization of Phaseolus vulgaris and its varieties have not promoted the taxonomic identification of archaeological specimens, because they focused on rarely preserved characteres. This work analyzes variations within a broader set of cualitative and cuantitative characters of Phaseolus vulgaris, both macroscopic (seed) and microscopic (starch grain), with archaeobotanical relevance for northwestern Argentina. Diagnostic characters for Phaseolus vulgaris and the cultivated and wild varieties were identified.
