Abstract

BRITTO, Berni  and  ARANA, César. Corotipos preliminares de Perú basados en la distribución de la familia Asteraceae. Darwiniana, nueva serie [online]. 2014, vol.2, n.1, pp.39-56. ISSN 0011-6793.

Preliminary chorotypes of Peru based on the distribution of Asteraceae family. The present study is based in the concept of chorological categories or chorotypes, founding a new hypothesis of biogeographic classification of Peru based on the distribution of the Asteraceae. The information collected resulted in 1669 species of Asteraceae registered in Peru (until 2008), distributed in 255 genera. The Peruvian territory was divided into 218 Report Districts representing 24 departments divided into strips of 500 m of altitude. The biogeographical database of Asteraceae was obtained by crossing an updated database of species records with the Report Districts, expressed in a presence-absence matrix. The total data set was analyzed, resulting in 14 preliminar chorotypes proposed for Peru: Abiseo, Amotape, Andino, Apurimac-Huancavelica, Chachapoyas-Huánuco, Huancabamba, Huascarán, Ica, Lima-Piura, Loreto-Ucayali, Manu, Pasco, Sandia, and Tacna.

Keywords : Biodiversity; Biogeography; Chorology; Cluster analysis; Flora.
