ANDRADE, Analía; UDRIZAR SAUTHIER, Daniel E. y PARDINAS, Ulyses F.J.. Vertebrates preyed by the Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia) in Somuncurá Plateau (Río Negro, Argentina). Hornero [online]. 2004, vol.19, n.2, pp.91-93. ISSN 0073-3407.
Vertebrates preyed by the Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia) in a locality in central Somuncurá Plateau (Río Negro Province, Argentina) are documented. An exhaustive collection of bone remains was made in the vicinity of a burrow used by two owls. The consumed preys included two species of reptiles, one species of birds, and six species of mammals. Among mammals, mainly sigmodontine rodents, was remarkable the consumption of Euneomys chinchilloides, both in terms of numerical frequency and biomass.
