Abstract
BOTERO-DELGADILLO, Esteban and GUAYARA, Manuel. First description of the nest of the Flammulated Treehunter (Thripadectes flammulatus) in Colombia. Hornero [online]. 2009, vol.24, n.2, pp.103-106. ISSN 0073-3407.
Here we present the first description of the nest of the Flammulated Threehunter (Thripadectes flammulatus) in Colombia. We observed two pairs using nests in ascending tunnels inside burrows, with a nesting chamber and an incubation platform. Nest dimensions and internal lining revealed similarities with data reported for other species of the genus Thripadectes and related genera. Although we found similarities with two recently discovered nests of Thripadectes flammulatus in Ecuador, some differences in platform structure could be related with nest wear or be a consequence of geographical variations, the latter requiring confirmation by the description of new nests.
