Abstract

SFERCO, Guillermo. First breeding records of the Ashy-tailed Swift (Chaetura meridionalis) in Argentina. Hornero [online]. 2017, vol.32, n.2, pp.269-271. ISSN 0073-3407.

I report the first breeding records of the Ashy-tailed Swift (Chaetura meridionalis) in Argentina. Between December 3 and 6, 2015, two nests of this species were found in a Chaco forest in central Argentina, located in holes of quebracho blanco. One of the nests contained three nestlings and the other five. As the species is present during the breeding season in central and northern Argentina, it was supposed to nest in the country but until now there were no specific records.

Keywords : Argentina; Ashy-tailed Swift; Chaetura meridionalis; Nest.
