Birds may respond to recent increases in temperature, changes in rainfall, or lar- ge-scale habitat modifications either by adapting in situ or spatially shifting their distribution to new areas. We conducted an extensive bibliographic review supplemented with data from eBird on birds that increased their southern distribution in Argentina between 2009 and 2020. According to our review, a total of 94 species advanced southwards in the last decade in the Yungas, Paranaense, Chaco-Espinal, and Andean ecoregions, representing 9.6% of the species cited for the country. Our results provide a scientific framework within which decision-makers can contextualize the importance of environmental changes at regional and continental sca- les and understand how they affect the distribution of birds.
