ALIBONI, Vilma; SERAFINI, Rosana y ALFIE, Julio Daniel. ¿Cómo entienden los padres las indicaciones médicas?. Arch. argent. pediatr. [online]. 2004, vol.102, n.1, pp.22-25. ISSN 0325-0075.
Introduction. Multiple factors are involved in the parents comprehension of medical prescriptions. Objectives. We prospectively analyzed the under-standing of pediatrician's prescriptions by the adultsin charge of the patients attending to a primary carecenter in Buenos Aires. Population, material and methods. We used an anonymous questionnaire that was answered without the presence of the physician and compared the answers with the actual medical prescriptions. Some of the items included were: educational level, cultural patterns and patient-physician relationship. Results. A coincidence of 85.71% between parents answers and physicians prescriptions was found; 82.14% considered that the physicians have clearly explained their indications and 76.19% thought that they have always clarified their doubts. Conclusions. In this population we observed a high level of understanding and ability to apply whathas been prescribed by the physicians.
