Resumen
AGUIRRE, Andrés et al. Tumores cardíacos primarios, patología infrecuente en niños. Arch. argent. pediatr. [online]. 2004, vol.102, n.6, pp.478-481. ISSN 0325-0075.
Primary cardiac tumors in children are uncommon, and most of them are benign tumors. Their prognosis depend on the location or their malignant nature. We report two children with primary cardiac tumors. The first one (4 months) presented an intracardiac tumor with pulmonary metastases. His death was secondary to multisystemic failure. The necropsy showed a primary cardiac tumor in the right atrium (rhabdomyosarcoma). The second patient was a premature newborn with multiple intracardiac tumors (probably rhabdomyomas) that caused arrhythmia without hemodynamic compromise (atrial extrasystoles with variable block). Currently she is being followed as an outpatient. The objective was to report two children with different primary cardiac tumors, an uncommon pathology in this age group.
