Abstract

Loxosceles is a global distribution spider with synanthropic characteristics. It is responsible for skin necrosis that in a low percentage is accompanied by systemic manifestations. Mortality can be high when systemic manifestations are present. There is no laboratory methods available for diagnostic. Clinical signs and identification of individuals lead to it. The application of antivenom is the specific treatment. The objetive of this presentation is to update on the characteristics of this poisoning, its diagnosis and treatment directed toward the pediatric patient.
