Abstract

KOHN LONCARICA, Guillermo. Earlyhemodynamic support in septic shock. Arch. argent. pediatr. [online]. 2010, vol.108, n.3, pp.249-254. ISSN 0325-0075.

Sepsisis the most common cause of death in children. Its adequate management has asignificant impact on morbidity and mortality. Pediatricians who take initialcontact with these patients play a fundamental role in the chain of actionsthat start at the Emergency Area and finish in the Intensive Care Unit. Inrecent years, some strategies have been developed to achieve staggered targets:clinical, hemodynamic, biochemical, and oxygenation. The correct interpretationof each affected component will allow the most appropriate intervention. Theaggressive management with fluids and the early indication of inotropes are thebasis for the management of shock. This paper summarizes primary interventionsin the Emergency Department.
