Resumen

CALDERON, Carlos. El libro y la imprenta en Galicia: del escolasticismo a la Ilustración. Un estado de la cuestión y perspectivas de investigación. Cuad. hist. Esp. [online]. 2003, vol.78, pp.221-234. ISSN 0325-1195.

Starting from traditional elaborations and from production relative to the average historiographic schools and of culture, and being printing and books defined as economic and cultural objects, there appears a relatively important group whose activities center on the book and other types of printings conformed by different urban professional categories (printers, booksellers, bookseller-printer-binders, merchants). These verifications open the doors to new investigations for Old Régime Galicia (seventeenth and eighteenth centuries) in which, among other topics, we can identify the actors related with the printing and circulation of books in the mentioned period and the issue of whether the different types of printed matter expressed the political cultural tensions as a result of the integration processes that the centralizing Castilian state effected over Galicia. We can also identify whether the public ceremonies become progressively politicised as the Old Régime breaks down and how the enlightened nucleus plays a part in the transition to the nineteenth century liberalism.
