Abstract
MARTINEZ MARTINEZ, María. Organización del Espacio en una Villa-Fortaleza: Aledo, Encomienda Santiaguista en la Frontera Murciano-Granadina en la Transición del Medievo a la Modernidad. Cuad. hist. Esp. [online]. 2005, vol.79, pp.57-90. ISSN 0325-1195.
Historical development of the "encomienda santiaguista" of Aledo during the late Medieval period. This fortress-village, placed on the front line of the Murcia-Granada border, consolidated a defensive system that will lose its reason to exist after the conquest of Granada in 1492. The "Libro de Visitas de la Orden de Santiago" of 1511 and archeological interventions allow the reconstruction of the morphology of the village and of the religious, military and economic spaces of the collective development of this micro-society, which suffered the historical transformations produced during the transition from Medieval to Modern times.
