Abstract

HINOJOSA MONTALVO, José. El aprovechamiento hidráulico en el reino de Valencia durante la Edad Media. Cuad. hist. Esp. [online]. 2006, vol.80, pp.25-54. ISSN 0325-1195.

Water has been an essential element in Valencia's history since Pre-Roman times, even though it was during the Andalusi period that the water management systems were configured. The systems were later maintained and expanded by the Christians. We propose a survey of the most important ones, reviewing the historical evolution of the Valencian irrigation system, and placing special emphasis on water management, the conflicts which it gave rise to, and the use of water to power mills.

Keywords : Water management; Valencia; Conflicts over water use; Water-Powered mills.
