Resumen

COZAR GUTIERREZ, Ramón  y  DE BORJA CAPARROS RUIPEREZ, Francisco. La muerte ante la batalla: Actitudes religiosas y mentalidades colectivas en Almansa a principios del siglo XVIII. Cuad. hist. Esp. [online]. 2009, vol.83, pp.247-273. ISSN 0325-1195.

During the Modern Ages, "war" and "death" were two words that were very present in European society. The beginning of the eighteenth century in Spain was marked by the Spanish War of Succession, transformed by its participants in an international conflict, to maintain balance on the European continent, and a civil war between the supporters of Philip of Bourbon and Charles of Austria, pretenders to the succession to the Spanish crown. The battle of Almansa took place on April 25, 1707 and it was one of the most important contests from a strategic, political and military point of view, since it meant opening up to the Bourbon conquest of the Valencian territories. With this work we aim to analyze the collective mentalities and the religious attitudes of the inhabitants of the villa of Almansa, exceptional witnesses of this clash.

Palabras clave : War of Succession; Almansa; Eighteenth century; History of mentalities; Death.
